Indianapolis singer-songwriter Michael Buratto is new to the game.  Spending years cutting his teeth drumming, producing, and mixing in the Indianapolis music scene, he didn't release his first solo recording, an EP titled SO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRETEND TO BE, until November 2014.

Buratto studied music and sound engineering at the University of Michigan before moving to Indianapolis in 2006 to play drums with Indy "buzz band" Win With Willard, playing on and mixing their critically acclaimed record REMEMBER THE ALAMO.

He went on to open Corporate Recording & Hi-Fi, a small recording studio in Downtown Indianapolis, where he's produced records from Indy staples Rivetshack, Brian Deer, and others.  In 2015, Buratto will release his first full-length record, NATIONAL ANIMAL, produced by John Vanderslice.

Buratto released his debut EP, So Be Careful What You Pretend To Be to both critical and commercial acclaim - the free EP was one of the top downloads through its exclusive distributor after it's release in 2014.  In line with the EP's title, Buratto's self-recorded songs portray stark, Vonnugutian character studies of heroes, villains, and everything in between, over other-worldly beds of tortured guitars, fuzzed out synths and cavernous drums.  The EP was recorded at Buratto's own studio, Corporate Recording & Hi-Fi.

A 10-show midwest tour to support So Be Careful... followed in January 2015.

Release Date: November 27th, 2014

With the release of So Be Careful..., Buratto signed on to record his full-length debut, National Animal, with John Vanderslice (Spoon, Death Cab For Cutie, The Mountain Goats) as producer - at Vanderslice's famed Tiny Telephone recording studios in San Francisco, California.

A completely independent musician, Buratto launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project. Offering non-traditional rewards such as a custom National Animal print from Hatch Show Print in Nashville, or the opportunity for Buratto to be the godfather of your first born child, the campaign reached its goal of $3,000 in the first 12 days of the 30 day campaign, scheduled to end on February 16th, 2015.

National Animal was released in August 2015 to critical and commercial success.
